I was put in charge to arrange a storage unit for my daughter and son-in-law's local move. I've used the two larger companies (PODS and 1-800-PACK-RAT) with mixed results. The PODS experience was okay but very expensive, and the 1-800-PACK-RAT experience was expensive and a complete debacle.
