Three Portable Storage Container Sizes for Every Move, Renovation, or Storage Need
Picking the wrong container size means a second delivery trip, wasted money, or a container that barely fits what you need. Go Mini's of Houston, TX delivers three portable storage container sizes directly to customers in Houston, Missouri City, Sugar Land, and throughout the greater Houston area, so you can choose the right fit before the container ever arrives at your door. As one of the longest-standing locally owned portable storage companies in Houston, we’ve helped residents and businesses match their project to the right option from the start.
We handle delivery, transport, and pickup. You load at your own pace, on your own schedule. The only decision that requires any thought up front is which container size works for you.

12 Foot Container
The 12 Foot Container measures 8 feet wide by 8 feet tall by 12 feet long, giving you 768 cubic feet of storage space. It fits the contents of 2 to 3 rooms and works well for dorm room and studio relocations, small business projects, minor renovations, and low-volume inventory stocking. It can accommodate a small refrigerator or washer and dryer combo alongside outdoor equipment and miscellaneous belongings. When your project involves a limited number of rooms or a single-space cleanout rather than a full home, this is the practical starting point.
16 Foot Container
The 16 Foot Container measures 8 feet wide by 8 feet tall by 16 feet long, totaling 1,024 cubic feet. It fits the contents of 3 to 4 rooms and handles condo and apartment moves along with mid-sized home projects like a single-room renovation. Sofas, beds, dressers, dining tables, appliances, boxes, and outdoor equipment all fit comfortably. If you’ve outgrown the 12 Foot Container but don’t need the full capacity of our largest option, the 16 Foot Container is the right middle ground.
20 Foot Container
The 20 Foot Container measures 8 feet wide by 8 feet tall by 20 feet long, providing 1,280 cubic feet of space and fitting the contents of 4 to 6 rooms. It’s designed for full-home moves, large construction projects, complete home remodels, and high-volume business and equipment storage. Furniture, appliances, bicycles, sports equipment, tools, seasonal decorations, musical instruments, and boxes of smaller items all fit in a single container.
According to Go Mini’s brand materials, Go Mini's of Houston, TX is the only national portable storage franchise to offer 20-foot containers. Based on Go Mini’s published comparisons, that’s 29% more space than the largest container PODS offers, which can mean many Houston customers can complete a full-home move in one container instead of coordinating two. For large moves and whole-home renovations in Houston, that difference in capacity matters.
What Every Container Has in Common
Whichever size fits your project, all three containers share the same construction and protection features.
Build Quality & Protection
All containers are constructed from powder-coated steel with no wooden interiors that splinter or develop musty odors. Pressure-treated flooring keeps contents dry, and built-in ventilation reduces the moisture and humidity that contribute to mold and mildew. Every container sits 8 inches off the ground, reducing loading strain and keeping contents away from ground-level moisture.
Driveway & Property Care
Padded wheels protect driveways and parking areas during delivery and pickup. At 8 feet wide, each container takes up roughly the same footprint as a car on a standard driveway. A clear, straight delivery path of approximately 60 feet is needed for placement.
Security
Interior tie-down rings secure your belongings during transport. The 16 Foot Container includes 25% more tie-down rings than the competition. You control the padlock, so you decide who has access.

I Would Recommend Go Mini's to Others
This was my first time using Go Mini's for a home project where I had to remove a lot of items from my house. The delivery was a quick, simple drop-off in my driveway (less than 10 minutes). We used the storage for about 3 months. Our items were protected from the weather, insects, and theft (we used our own lock). When we completed its use, we scheduled the pickup; the driver arrived within the scheduled time window. The driver, Miles Towns, was very courteous and picked the unit up in less than 10 minutes. I wish I could remember the drop-off driver so I could mention his name. I would recommend Go Mini's to others and if I have another project I will use them again. Thanks, Go Mini's!!!
