Asheville GoMini’s Dealer Assists Food Drive

Friday, October 30th, 2009

GoMini’s has teamed up with area high schools to help end hunger in Western North Carolina.  After being contacted by several students to assist with storage of their collected food, owner Robie Campbell pitched in by donating use of the collection receptacle.

Campbell will retrieve his GoMini’s from the schools and help the students transport the food to MANNA FoodBank on October 28 between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.

“Every year we seek ways to help within the community.  By donating the use of our portable GoMini’s storage units to organizations needing moving and/or storage, we’re able to assist in a very unique way,” said Campbell.

A convenient, inexpensive portable self-storage solution, GoMini’s became a local storage sensation in 2005 when owner Robie Campbell purchased the Asheville territory.  Since that time, Campbell has also purchased the Charlotte, Hickory and Myrtle Beach territories.  In 2009, Campbell was named “GoMini Dealer of the Year” as well as the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Leader of the Year for business with fifteen or fewer employees.

The Truth about Load Shift

Friday, October 16th, 2009

by Bill Norris, CEO, Go Mini’s

There is a lot of hype in the market about this loading system or that…Company “A” claims their loading system prevents load shift, while stating that Company “B” has a loading system that creates load shift. Common sense should dictate than any successful moving company would not endure the test of time if it had a “loading system” that created a problem as opposed to insuring against one. In today’ post I’m going to separate the fiction of the rhetoric and slick sales pitches from the truth surrounding the issue of load shift.

Nothing is more important to Go Mini’s customers than insuring that their contents are safe and secure during a move. Go Mini’s recognizes the importance of delivering your valuables to their destination in the same condition in which they were originally placed into our care. Everything we do from employing professional drivers, hiring the best trained moving staff in the industry, having a controlled loading and unloading process, and having the best engineered containers (our containers hold a US Patent) with the most comprehensive and secure tie-down system in the market all give testimony to our commitment to insuring a damage free move for our customers.

While all reputable companies in the moving and transportation industry take great care to deal with the potential of contents shifting during a move, the truth of the matter is that load shift can occur anytime professional care is not taken. Loading systems and technology used by any established company are designed to keep your possessions safe and secure. The fact of the matter is that load shift and damage can and do occur as a result of human error, but doesn’t occur based upon the particular technology used in a company’s loading system. It is reckless drivers and/or not securing contents properly that can result in load shift, which in turn can cause damage to contents. This is why it’s important to hire the best people possible when selecting a mover. Our business is like any other…it’s the people that make the difference. We’re not only very good at what we do and have the best technology in the market, but you’ll find our staff to be friendly and professional as well.

All Portable Storage containers are not created equal

Friday, October 9th, 2009

by Lynn Larsen, Go Mini’s Hudson/Nashua, NH and Manchester, NH

When I speak to one of my friends about portable storage containers here in New Hampshire they often assume that all portable storage containers are pretty much the same. However there are some important differences that as a consumer you should be aware of.

With the increase in popularity of portable storage containers, many companies are using this term to cover what used to be known as “freight” containers. These are often older containers meant for overseas shipping. They can be rusty and leaky, with gaps around the door that would allow insects or small rodents to enter.

Unlike Go Mini’s clean, shiny, finished interiors, the interiors of these freight containers are usually unfinished. When placing your items inside a smoothly-finished Go Mini’s container, you can be comfortable that nothing is going to snag your upholstery or leather finish or grate against your fine wood furniture.

Freight containers sit directly on the ground, offering no air space underneath the container for air circulation. Go Mini’s portable storage containers are slightly raised on low wheels, so air circulates underneath them, reducing the potential for dampness.

Go Mini’s feature an easy-to-operate, roll-up door. Freight container doors are heavy and swing outwards, and can be awkward for the average person to handle.

When you enter a freight container, it’s dark inside! It’s hard to find items you may have stored inside. Unless you prop the door open well, it can bang closed behind you. Go Mini’s portable storage containers have translucent roofs that let in plenty of light. So you can easily find your stored items and loading is easier too.

These are just some of the differences to be aware of when choosing portable storage containers. Remember, the cheapest portable storage solution isn’t always the least expensive in the long run!

Move Cheaply and Avoid a Move Schedule Disaster

Friday, October 9th, 2009

Want to move locally for a very low sum of money?  With portable storage, you can do this and have a great amount of flexibility.  The flexibility is HUGELY important.  We’ll get to why in a minute.  As far as price is concerned, portable storage offers a rate which is good for an entire month and is comparable to the cost of a weekend truck rental.   And moving yourself in a portable storage container can be several hundreds or even a few thousand dollars less than a full service mover.

Now why is flexibility of a Go Mini’s portable storage container so important?  One reason why happens all the time.  It is “The home you are selling does not sell at exactly the same time as the home you are buying”.  Was it improper planning on your part?  Not usually.  So many other factors affect the dates of home sales, which are out of your control.  Title searches, lawyer schedules etc.  So the buyers force you to set a date to close on the home YOU are selling.  But you are still unsure of when you can close on the home you want to get into.  It doesn’t matter.  You need to get OUT!

IF you are using Go Mini’s portable storage containers you have on less problem to deal with.  With your furniture and other possessions loaded, the Mini’s can go anywhere.  They can be moved to a Go Mini’s property or anywhere else you have permission to store a container.

Of course you have bigger problems, like being homeless until you get in the home you are purchasing.  If you had decided to move yourself with a rental truck, you would be ill-prepared for when closing dates do NOT match up just like you wanted them to match-up.  And, if you chose to have a professional mover do your move,  you are in the tough position of having to pay at least a few hundred dollars per night for keeping your items on their truck.  Who needs that?  Isn’t everyone else already draining your bank account when you are buying and selling a home?

Go Mini’s flexibility gives you a good solution regardless of how your home sale/purchase goes.  If you were not planning to use Go Mini’s and find yourself in a difficult circumstance.  Don’t worry, Go Mini’s can come to the rescue.  Every dealer is locally owned.  You will be able to talk to the person who personally schedules the local delivery.  And they can bring Go Mini’s containers to your home usually within one day.

GO Mini’s Portable Storage - TOYS FOR TOTS 2009

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

By: Ron Lambert, General Manager GO Mini’s, Broken Arrow, OK

Well it’s that time of year again! The annual TOYS FOR TOTS program is about to kick off. GO Mini’s, along with the Marines in the Tulsa, OK area, have once again  joined together to assist in providing the community with a safe place to bring toys for the area’s children. GO Mini’s  has delivered 2 containers to the Marines headquarters located in Broken Arrow, OK and they are getting ready to start collecting all the toys  for the local children.

This is the third year that GO Mini’s has joined the Marines in this effort. GO Mini’s  knows that without the support and encouragement of the Tulsa, OK and surrounding area, we would not be the success we have come to be. GO Mini’s also stresses that with the economic roller coaster, as it has been in the prior months,  there are alot more families unable to provide the gifts for their children as they have the years before and we all know the joy of seeing our childrens eyes light up on Christmas morning when they see that special gift. Let’s remind them all that we are a community that helps our fellow neighbors through all hard and good times by participating in the local TOYS FOR TOTS.

GO Mini’s has a facility located in Broken Arrow, OK and is a proud partner with the TOYS FOR TOTS program and again, encourage anyone that is able to help our children to please do so. We also would like to wish everyone an upcoming safe and happy holiday season.
