(Part 1) Why do you need one?
DBA registration is required if you anticipate collecting money under a name other than your own name or your true corporate name. DBA registration is necessary if your company conducts any business under a name other than your own name (for sole proprietors) or its legal name (for state-level entities such as corporations and LLCs). Also, banks generally require a DBA registration in order to open a business bank account.
If you are planning to operate a series small home companies, or a chain of bagel shops, you might set up a corporation with a generic name, such as ABC Enterprises, and then file an assumed name for each home company or bagel shop. Since there is significant expense in filing and maintaining a corporation, this helps control costs while still allowing you to expand your business.
Since all Go Mini’s dealers are privately owned they use the DBA in their company titles. Example: San Diego Portable Storage, DBA Go Mini’s. If you are considering a new business in the moving and storage industry, go to www.gominis.com under Become a Dealer for more information.

Professional Moving Tips for the Do-It-Yourself-er
By Jim Carey – Go Mini’s of NY, NJ & CT
Serving Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Orange, Rockland, Ulster, Bergen, Fairfield and Litchfield
WARNING! When moving an item with drawers or doors, it’s when you are carrying the item when an accident is most likely. If professional movers can make this mistake, so can you.
“Oh #$%@!” The expressions that come out of people’s mouths when moving furniture are sometimes priceless. But, in all seriousness, the reasons for such expressions are because they are handling heirlooms and/or items of high monetary value. Moving something that has drawers or doors seems to be easy enough to handle, but can often be the source of unnecessary mistakes and damage during a move.
WHY DO WE LET THIS HAPPEN?
It is not hard to prevent, but it happens anyway. Why? Because many of us find ourselves working hard, working fast and becoming less careful as the move goes on. Seeing your house empty-out makes for a feeling of progress. Instead of pausing and making sure the piece is safe to move, we grab it and go – and with a partner on the other end if the piece is big.
Then you start negotiating turns, stairs or uneven ground outside. A little turn here, a little tilt there and all of a sudden a finely finished drawer falls to the ground or a door on a hutch top swings open. Then you say mo8&!@ &*cO2#!
WHAT TO DO - Secure the drawers or doors prior to picking up the piece. You can use several materials. A professional mover actually has very large rubber bands to fit around furniture. You probably don’t. You can use string, but be careful to not damage a finely finished surface. You should have a cloth or paper pad between the string and furniture if it has a fine finish.
You can use plastic stretch wrap too. If you are storing the furniture, moisture may condense on plastic and damage a fine finish, so always use a a cloth or paper pad to protect the furniture from direct contact with the plastic if it will be stored. You can get stretch wrap from most Go Mini’s locations.
Remember to secure loose shelves too. You may best off if you take them out before moving a piece of furniture. In summary, remember to check every piece of furniture before moving. If you have friends helping you, you would be wise to do this before they arrive
Our fourth in a series of professional moving tips for the do-it-yourself mover. If you have rented a portable storage container from Go Mini’s or anyone else, you are going to want to know how to best take care of your personal belongings. Refer to this blog as often as necessary to find do-it yourself moving tips. These are tips the pros would use too.

A major HVAC mechanical contractor in the Midwest wanted to be more aggressive and branch out into other geographical areas. However, they had no in-house expertise to quote or manage the logistics of a remote job site. So they asked Stangate Management, Inc. (SMI) www.stangate.com , specialists in supply chain management and logistics engineering to assist them.
Stangate Management developed several custom alternatives for their client. They guided the manufacturing and installation teams through the feasibility evaluation process of each alternative. The best overall and lowest cost solution involved partial assembly prior to transport then final assembly on the job site. SMI had partnered with Planes Logistics and Go Mini’s of Cincinnati to develop the whole process. It was a very complex situation involving many steps and it had to work perfectly the first time so a trial was developed to test the equipment, manufacturing, and transport to pilot the whole process. Once the process was refined and validated the bid was made and the client won a large construction contract ($30+ mil) for a major University hospital expansion.
After consulting with Go Mini’s, Mini Storage On The Go, SMI learned that Go Mini’s containers are highly portable and can be loaded in one location and shipped inside of 53′ over-the-road trailers or on flatbeds to move product to multiple job sites. They can also be lifted by forklift or crane and once placed at job site, can be maneuvered where needed since they are mounted on sturdy polycoated steel casters.
Partially fabricated duct sections were loaded into 45 Go Mini’s containers, transported over 100 miles to the job site, where the Go Mini’s containers could be lifted to the second floor without having to unload and reload product.
The efficiency improvement from use of the Go Mini’s mobile containers resulted in a transportation cost reduction of 47% ($14K) and a material handling labor reduction of 30%, which saved over $200,000 for the contractor. As an added benefit, shop through-put and flexibility was greatly increased because some of the assembly was done at the job site.

People buy for hundreds of reasons, from needs to prestige and everything in between. Psychologists such as Abraham Maslow and B.F. Skinner wrote about people’s wants and needs over a century ago and their theories are still being used today in college business courses.
We hear people say they want the most “bang for the buck”. That may be the definitive answer to this article. In simple terms they want the benefits of good value with a good price. If we break that down into a formula: VALUE = BENEFITS/PRICE.
To make your product or service desirable to the customer you can add or decrease benefits while raising or lowering the price. But the important thing to remember is that people do not buy on price alone.
“I am easily satisfied with the very best,” Winston Churchill.
